Eligibility |
Any Veteran enrolled in the VA health system or a referral coming from Veterans Service Coordinators. Military, naval or air service members who were separated under any condition other than dishonorable. Current and former members of the Reserves or National Guard who were called to active duty (other than for training only) by a federal order and completed the full period for which they were called or ordered to active duty. Duty Requirements ● Served 24 continuous months or the full period for which they were called to active duty to be eligible. ● Exceptions: Those discharged for hardship or received an “early out.” * If not currently enrolled, Veterans should apply to determine their eligibility. |
Honorably discharged. Served at least 90 consecutive days during the following war periods. ● WWII: 12/07/1941 - 12/31/1949 ● Korea: 6/27/1950-01/31/1955 ● Vietnam: 2/28/1961-08/05/1964 (must have served in the republic of Vietnam) ● Vietnam: 8/05/1964-05/07/1975 ● Gulf War: 8/02/1990-TBD (must have served two years active duty) Assets less than $129,094 (excludes home, car, and up to 2 acres of land) Surviving Spouse must have been married to the eligible Veteran at the time of death. One of the following health conditions must be met: ● Needs help performing daily functions (may include bathing, eating or dressing) ● Bedridden ● Living in a nursing home. Eyesight is limited to a corrected 5/200 visual acuity or less in both eyes; and concentric contraction of the visual field to 5 degrees or less. |
Services |
Typically, 6 to 16 hours per week is assigned by the Veteran's service care coordinator. No maximum number of hours. Hours are determined by the needs of the Veteran and authorized by the service care coordinator. Hours can extend to twenty-four hours a day! |
Increased monthly pension amount paid to qualified Veterans, spouses, and surviving spouses. ● Married Veteran (With care needs) ○ $2,431 ● Single Veteran ○ $2,050 ● Married Veteran (Spouse needs care) ○ $1,610 ● Surviving Spouse ○ $1,318 |
